Plot summary
Curtis and Catherine Baxter move from California to a house in Rockland, Maine, for the Christmas season. Their ten-year-old son Finn and his older sister Alexis pass the time with video games and phones. A neighbor named Mason tells Finn about a gangster who was smothered and whose ghost is said to haunt the family's new home, and Finn grows paranoid. Three thieves, Sinclair, Jessica and Hughes, intend to steal a painting by Edvard Munch worth $85 million from the house. When the parents go to a party at the home of Catherine's employer, Mr. Carson, they leave Finn and Alexis behind; a snowstorm traps Curtis and Catherine across town, and Finn rigs traps through the rooms.
