Plot summary
Ciro's nightclub in West Hollywood hosts a dinner for a crowd of caricatured Hollywood stars. Greta Garbo works the room as a cigarette girl and strikes a match on her oversized foot to light Cary Grant's cigarette. Edward G. Robinson greets Ann Sheridan as the Oomph girl, and she replies with the word oomph. Seats are held for Bette Davis and for Kate Smith, who gets an extra-wide sofa. James Cagney coaches Humphrey Bogart and George Raft through a penny-pitching contest. Bing Crosby opens the entertainment, and Leopold Stokowski, wearing a snood, conducts a conga that brings couples onto the floor. Dorothy Lamour asks James Stewart to dance, and he stammers and flees. Clark Gable keeps after a blonde woman he noticed.
