Plot summary
Between 1954 and 1962, during the Algerian War, young men of little means, known as Harkis, volunteered to serve in the French Army. Salah and Kaddour are two of them, and Lieutenant Pascal commands their platoon. As the conflict draws toward its end, the prospect of Algerian independence looms, and the position of the Harkis grows bleak. Pascal goes to his superiors to argue that every man in his unit must be taken to France.
