Plot summary
Dana Marschz, a recovering alcoholic and failed actor, teaches drama at a Tucson high school, where only Rand Posin and Epiphany Sellars take his class seriously and his productions draw bad reviews. Budget cuts force a new intake of students into the course, since it is the last arts elective left, and Dana clashes with Octavio, one of the newcomers. Principal Rocker tells him the drama program will close at the end of the term. To inspire the class, Dana writes an original play: a sequel to Hamlet that uses time travel to spare the characters their deaths and adds Jesus Christ to the cast, including a song-and-dance number. The students begin to warm to the project.
