Plot summary
After his mother dies in 1988, Peter Quill is abducted from Earth by a spaceship. Twenty-six years later he takes a mysterious Orb from the abandoned planet Morag and flees Korath and his men in the Milano. His mentor Yondu tells him to hand the Orb over, but Quill intends to sell it himself. Ronan the Accuser wants the Orb as well, to trade to Thanos for the destruction of Xandar, and Gamora volunteers to go after it. On Xandar a broker refuses to deal with the Orb, Gamora attacks Quill to seize it, and the bounty hunters Rocket and Groot also move to capture him. Nova Corps officers arrest the four and send them to the Kyln, where the inmate Drax the Destroyer nurses a vendetta against Gamora over Ronan's killing of his wife and daughter.
