Plot summary
The saying holds that green bones found in the cremated remains of a person are proof of a good life, and that a remorseless criminal could never hold such a bone in his body. Domingo Zamora, accused of murdering his sister and niece, is due for release from prison. Xavier Gonzaga, newly assigned as a guard at the prison, is grieving his own sister and wants Domingo kept inside, though he has no legal grounds for it. Domingo stays reserved, and that silence sharpens Xavier's suspicions, pushing him to dig into the prisoner's past and into the criminal justice system around them both.
