Plot summary
In Hong Kong, Joy earns her living as a domestic helper even though she holds a nursing degree, and she picks up side jobs that her work permit does not allow. She is saving for a move to Canada and hopes to bring her family there, while her father Celso wants the family to settle in Hong Kong instead, where her mother Lita lives. At the bar in Lan Kwai Fong where Joy works as a tout, Ethan, a Filipino bartender, notices her and is turned down. When officers check foreign workers, Joy kisses Ethan to throw them off. Ethan tells her he has chased women and does not know what to do with his life, and they agree to keep each other company over the four months before Joy leaves.
