Plot summary
Lyra spends her shifts at an online content moderation office, one of the workers known as deleters, who filter graphic uploads before the material can reach social media platforms. Her co-workers and her boss, Simon, read her as a cold woman untouched by the images on her screen. They do not know the trauma she carries, or that keeping her own past erased has taught her to hold her face still. When a suicide video made by one of her fellow deleters passes through her queue, she deletes it, and a mysterious presence bent on vengeance starts to close in on her.
