Plot summary
James Palmer, who saw a societal collapse coming, moved his wife Lily and their young daughter Hannah off the grid to a remote home in Mendocino County. When a mass text and a computer virus cripple the country's networks, his old college friends converge on the house: Benji, a radical activist; Nick, James's former business partner, and his wife Becky; Laura, once an aide to a senator; and Lev, a hacker. Benji says riots have erupted across the country. Two National Guardsmen ask to use the property as a base, and Becky objects. Old rivalries and grievances from the friends' shared past resurface as they settle in.
