Plot summary
Late 1995, in Montreal's Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, an unsolved string of murders of young women has the neighborhood on edge. Louise, a waitress at a Chinese-Canadian restaurant, lives with her cats Mozart and Tia Maria and reads every report about the victims. In her apartment building, Spencer, who has used a wheelchair since the car accident that killed his wife, keeps to himself with his aquariums. A new tenant, Victor, an elementary school teacher just back from China with his cat Balthazar, works at befriending them both. Landlady Mme. Gauthier and her tenants, among them the angry Valérie, watch one another closely, and the neighbors have reason to ask whom they can trust.
