Plot summary
The Shobijin call on Yoshito, his uncle Shinichi Chujo, and Shinichi's grandson Shun. Godzilla keeps returning to Japan, they say, because the government built the cyborg Kiryu around the skeleton of the first Godzilla. Return those bones to the ocean, and Mothra, descendant of the Mothra that attacked Japan forty-three years earlier, will take Kiryu's place in defending the country. Kiryu is under repair and modification, and its squadron goes to the United States for training. Should Godzilla return while Akane Yashiro is away, Kyosuke Akiba is to take her place. Premier Hayato Igarashi refuses Chujo's request, but will retire the Kiryu project only after the cyborg finishes Godzilla. Then Godzilla resurfaces and moves on Tokyo.
