Girl Most Likely (2012) on Netflix

Plot summary

Imogene Duncan had a promising start as a playwright. She now works at a New York City magazine for little money. Her wealthy boyfriend, Peter Van Woodsen, leaves her, and the magazine dismisses her. To draw his attention she stages a suicide attempt. Her friend Dara finds her, and after a hospital stay Imogene is released to her estranged mother, Zelda, who takes her to the family house in Ocean City, New Jersey. Imogene blames Zelda for a miserable childhood and has not kept in touch with her. At the house she meets her brother Ralph, who runs a hermit crab business on the boardwalk, Zelda's boyfriend, George Bousche, who says he is an undercover CIA agent and a time-traveling samurai, and Lee, a boarder who sings in an impersonation revue.
