Plot summary
Judy, an aspiring actress in New York City, complies when a director asks her to bare her breasts at an audition for a role requiring nudity, then leaves uneasily; her agent Murray drops her for it, and her acting coach, whom she cannot pay, drops her too. She waits tables at a nightclub, and riding the subway home one night she notices a classified advertisement for a friendly phone line and circles it. Lil, who manages a call center for customer service and phone sex, hires her. During orientation Lil tells the women to sound Caucasian on calls unless a caller asks otherwise and gives Judy the name Girl 6. Her cousin and neighbor Jimmy worries the job will distract her from acting; she calls phone sex a form of acting.
