Plot summary
Anina "Ani" Dixit is a bright young batting prodigy who is on the verge of her international debut for India. On the eve of that first match, a freak accident takes her right hand. Padam "Paddy" Singh Sodhi is a failed and frustrated test cricketer, and he is unsympathetic to her, but he enters her life with a new dream for her: bowling. He trains her using unconventional techniques, and the two of them invent a new style of spin bowling, which they call Ghoomer. With under ten months to qualify, Anina's goal is a place in the Indian women's team, this time as a bowler.
