Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Mukkabaaz (2017)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Vineet Kumar Singh's script was triggered by seeing a senior boxer, a medal-winner whose photographs had appeared in newspapers, stealthily carrying luggage at Varanasi Junction railway station to make ends meet and hiding his face behind the bags.
  • Vineet Kumar Singh trained for more than 700 days for the role, starting a year before filming at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports in Patiala; he could not see punches coming, took a real beating every day and broke some ribs.
  • Vineet Kumar Singh insisted on playing the lead himself, but no producer would agree to it until Anurag Kashyap learned of the script.
  • Rachita Arora's first job as a film composer came after Anurag Kashyap heard her music in a parking lot; she had been recommended by Makrand Deshpande, with whom she was doing a play.
  • For the tournament scenes, Anurag Kashyap sent his second unit director, Saqib Pandor, to film real boxing tournaments, which were then recreated as the film's state tournaments; the crew watched one staged under a tent with no audience because the ring was being used for something else.
  • Anurag Kashyap said it was boxing and the case of Narsingh Pancham Yadav, who was accused of doping, that prompted him to make the film.
