Plot summary
Dean, Duncan, and William are troublesome students, and their teacher Mr. Carlyle brings them to the Scottish Highlands to attempt the Duke of Edinburgh Award, which requires them to cross the wilderness as a team with only a paper map. Ian, a bookish classmate, joins in the hope the award will strengthen his college application. Carlyle drops them off and drives away, telling them to meet him at a campsite. Dean produces hash, and a man watches the group through a rifle scope. A farmer gives them directions, and William, who performs as DJ Beatroot, gives him a mix CD. A masked figure in hunting gear opens fire on them.
