Plot summary
In 3008 the Intergalactic Space Police cruiser Infinity patrols deep space, commanded by the incompetent Cornelius Butt, with Sgt. Thor, pilot Buzz, the alien Maurice and Sam aboard. Galaxina is the ship's android servant, and Rock-Eater, a prisoner, sits in the brig. A bird-like ship refuses to answer Buzz's questions, trades laser fire and escapes. At dinner the captain eats a confiscated alien egg, falls ill and coughs up a small creature that scurries off. Orders then arrive: the crew must fly to the prison planet Altair One and recover the stolen gemstone called the Blue Star, a journey of 27 years in cryogenic sleep. Galaxina stays awake to run the ship, and alone she reprograms herself toward being human and shuts down her electrical defense.
