Plot summary
Two head-bangers in Calgary, Alberta, Terry Cahill and Dean Murdoch have spent their lives together, from their first beers to their first garage band to the Canadian mullet known as hockey hair. A young documentarian, Farrel, decides to point a camera at the pair and explore their friendship. Their lives grow complicated when Troy, their party leader, better known as Tron, snubs them.

- FUBAR was shot on a Canon XL1 on a shoestring budget, and to finish it Dave Lawrence maxed out his credit card while his father refinanced the family home.
- Many people who appear in FUBAR, including the fist-fighters, were bystanders who thought the filmmakers were shooting a documentary on the common man rather than a comedy.
- FUBAR was made without a fully-written script; the actors worked from only a rough outline and improvised their dialogue.
- The sequel FUBAR 2: Balls to the Wall secured a $4-million budget from Telefilm Canada based only on a scriptment, the first time the agency green lit a film without a complete script.
