Biography

David Lawrence is an actor, producer and improviser from Canada. He grew up in Calgary, Alberta and joined the Loose Moose Theatre Company at 15, later becoming a senior ensemble performer and instructor there. He studied at Mount Royal College and worked in Japan and Australia as a busker and puppeteer. With Michael Dowse and Paul Spence he created the improvised mockumentary Fubar (2002), shot for about $10,000 and accepted as an official Sundance entry. Lawrence wrote, produced and starred as Terry Cahill, a character he had developed at Loose Moose in the mid-1990s, and played him again in Fubar: Balls to the Wall (2010), which opened the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival and finished second in the vote for the People's Choice Award. He also helped create the FUBAR: Age of Computer television series and won a Bessie Craft Award in 2004 for an anti-smoking campaign with the Nova Scotia government.
