Plot summary
Clay arrives at college as a freshman. Amanda comes from Pittsburgh on a sorority scholarship, and her mother, a legacy member, leaves her at the sorority house. Amanda's sorority sets each pledge a task: draw a description from a hat, make the man fall in love, bring him to a party in three weeks and drop him. Hers is a gay man. Fraternity hazing strips Clay and his friend Matt naked and leaves them in a sleeping bag on the quad, and the whole campus takes them for a couple. Amanda approaches Clay believing he is gay, and he claims that he is. He joins the campus LGBT club and visits a gay bar, where Rodney, the owner, coaches him on how to dress and act.
