Plot summary
Christina is raising two daughters on her own in Ohio when she decides to leave an abusive relationship in the late 1970s. She takes the girls, teenage MJ and seven-year-old Shell, to the Florida coast, where a friend from her past introduces her to drug smuggling. Christina takes the work because it pays, and the money goes to the household. MJ grows defiant at home, and Christina has to protect both daughters from the dangers that surround the smuggling trade.
