Plot summary
To lie low, a crew of thieves takes jobs as security guards at a traveling carnival. Their first plan is to steal the ticket sales, with help from an insider at the show. Lucy, one of the thieves, has a larger target in mind: the whole circus fortune. She persuades the gang to let her seduce Lon, the aging owner of the carnival, and marry him, so that the money will come to her once he suffers an accident. She tells them that people die all the time. The carnival's performers, the freaks, are on to what the gang intends.
