Plot summary
In a small town, Vince Muldoon is a loner and the son of a poor miner. He is trying to save his grandmother Granny Muldoon, his town and his home, and to save his own skin, while avoiding the dangerous work of the mine. The sport he invents, footskating, is his plan, and he takes it into a skateboarding competition without a skateboard. A team has to come together around him, a conservative father has to understand what he is doing, and a wider world has to be willing to accept a form of extreme sporting madness it has never seen before.
