Plot summary
A tide of glaciers reaches out from Icepeak, the frozen citadel of Queen Juliana and her son Nekron, forcing humanity to retreat toward the equator. Nekron's delegation arrives at Firekeep, the volcano stronghold of King Jarol, asking for the king's surrender; it is a ruse, and his subhuman troops carry off Jarol's daughter, Princess Teegra, whom Juliana intends as Nekron's bride. Teegra escapes and comes upon Larn, a young warrior and the last survivor of a village buried by the ice. A monstrous squid attacks him, separating them, and the subhumans retake Teegra. Looking for her, Larn meets Darkwolf, a masked warrior with his own vendetta against Nekron and Juliana.
