Writer Eric Heisserer said coming up with good death sequences for Final Destination 5 was "ridiculously hard", and that the LASIK eye-surgery death of Olivia Castle was inspired by his wife undergoing the same type of surgery.- Miles Fisher, who plays Peter Friedkin, released a music video for his own song "New Romance" starring the film's main cast in a Saved by the Bell parody that included a clue to the plot; he and director Dave Green watched every episode of the sitcom.
