Plot summary
Anna has lost both parents, and she goes to a small Florida town to stay with May, her blind grandmother, a woman she has never met. May's sister Patti lives nearby. In the woods behind the house, Anna meets Shawn and Julie, two teenagers who ask her to drink beer with them. She also finds an old tree with her grandmother's name carved into it. Patti tells her that May was once a gifted but cruel cheerleader, and that she lost her eyes to Sandman, a local legend who punishes wrongdoers in their dreams.
