Plot summary
Abby Morrison has spent her life with an imaginary companion. Sy has been her boyfriend since she was a child, and he is the subject she keeps returning to in her paintings, where she gives him a face. She agrees to tutor Quinn Andrews, the cousin of her roommate, and the two of them spend time together. Abby feels drawn to Quinn but keeps her attention fixed on Sy. Quinn grows jealous of a boyfriend he has never met, because he does not know that Sy exists only in her imagination. Her parents invite Quinn to join them for Thanksgiving dinner.
