Plot summary
Erin's final year of middle school is nearly over, and she is the only student in her grade who is out. Her friend Liz is a comic nerd and a track star, and Liz has been accepted to a private high school, so the two of them will not be at the same school next year. Erin falls for Sydni, a new girl who used to be a child star. Erin decides that asking Sydni to the big dance is her way to get in with the popular kids and to keep the next year from being terrible. The plan goes wrong as she begins to lose Liz.
