Plot summary
Emil Svensson is a lively boy on a Småland farm, where he lives with his mother, his father Anton, his little sister Ida, the farmhand Alfred and the maid Lina. Ideas come into his head and he cannot leave them untried, though he means well and is good-hearted. The results are often catastrophic, above all for Anton, whose temper is short. Emil then waits in the wood shed, carving small wooden figures, until his father calms down. One mishap leaves his head stuck in the household's only soup bowl.
