Starring Maja (2009) on Netflix

Plot summary

For Maja, eighteen, growing up in a small Swedish town, the only thing she wants is to act, and to be seen for the person she is inside. Being severely overweight, clumsy and without much social skill makes that hard. During her last term at high school she keeps trying, and meets a young documentary filmmaker named Erika, whose own career has not gone well. Erika spots a chance to make entertainment out of Maja's struggle, and is drawn in by Maja's warmth and enthusiasm. Maja keeps running into the prejudice that follows how she looks, while she searches for the confidence to stand in the center on her own terms.
