Plot summary
Tommy and Annika Settergren live with strict parents and spend their free time with their friend Pippi Longstocking, whose house is called Villa Villekulla. One evening the siblings stay out too long, and at home their mother and father scold them before sending them to bed. Next morning Pippi arrives for breakfast, and the parents set Tommy and Annika to pulling weeds out of the strawberry patch. The two children have had enough of chores and decide to leave home. Their parents think the two may be serious and ask Pippi to keep an eye on them. Pippi, Tommy and Annika set off on a long journey.
