Plot summary
Elfie Hopkins, 22, is an aspiring detective in a sleepy hunting village, grieving her mother and living between a broken father and an alcoholic stepmother. She takes her inspiration from the old-school detectives of classic films, and she and Dylan, her geeky best friend, entertain themselves by investigating their neighbors, upsetting the village with their allegations. Then the Gammons arrive, a trendy family of city dwellers who tell tales of adventure and offer the villagers exotic hunting trips abroad. Neighbors take them up on the trips and fly off. Elfie and Dylan begin looking into the Gammons' life.
