- The screenplay was rewritten again and again during the shoot: writer Andrea Sixt and director Markus Goller stayed in constant contact and kept changing scenes on set in order to take up suggestions from the actors.
- Andrea Sixt, who wrote the 1998 novel and the screenplay herself, gave the film's dialogue a much larger share of Bavarian dialect than the book had.
