Plot summary
A young artist is imprisoned by opium addiction. The drug returns him to his courtship of Ligeia, a soprano he knows only by that name, and the memory plays out in phantasmagorical form. Inside those opium hours, what he remembers and what he only imagines cannot be separated. Lady Rowena, a new love, nurses him back to health. The memory of Ligeia does not release him, and two spirits, Azrael and Nehushtan, trouble his mind.
