Plot summary
Sara Campos runs the family restaurant in East Los Angeles, and her grandson Diego, who is closeted, works there with her. Diego is seeing Pablo Morales, who is equally closeted, and he feels hemmed in by the conservative ways of the neighborhood. Diego wants to open an upscale restaurant elsewhere, and he had hoped Pablo would come with him. Pablo sees their relationship otherwise and begins courting Bianca Campos, Diego's aunt. Wesley Henderson and his boyfriend arrive as part of the wave of newcomers Diego believes are changing the area. Wesley is open about being gay, and Diego is drawn to him at once, which leads Diego to weigh a life he had never imagined for himself.
