Alexander Botts bills himself as a natural born salesman and a master mechanic, though tractors are not something he knows much about. Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film is based on characters William Hazlett Upson created for a series of Saturday Evening Post stories: salesman Alexander Botts and the Earthworm Tractor Company, inspired in part by Upson's own work experience with the Caterpillar Tractor Company.
- The original copyright holder never renewed the copyright, so the film fell into the public domain, and many of the versions available are badly edited and of extremely poor quality, duped from second- or third-generation copies.
