Plot summary
Chase Hammond is a prankster bored with his high school's status quo, and his next door neighbor Nicole Maris belongs to the in-crowd. They grew up as childhood best friends until junior high pulled them apart. Senior year, Nicole spends her time planning the school's centennial dance and expects to go with basketball player Brad Seldon, but Brad asks Kathy, a cheerleader from a rival school, instead. Chase dates Dulcie, who leaves him for a college student named Joshua. Nicole calls Chase with a proposal: they pretend to date, so Brad and Dulcie will take notice, with an easy out clause that lets either of them end it at any time. Nicole gives Chase a makeover so he blends in with her crowd, and she agrees to do whatever he wants in return.
