Plot summary
Jack Miller works as a lawyer in Tokyo and keeps having nightmares about his younger brother Sean, who drowned at sea years earlier when the two of them were out in a rowing boat. Jack has fallen in love with Yuri, the wife of Eiji Saito, his most important client. Even though the water frightens him, he agrees to come along when Eiji asks him to spend a day on Tokyo Bay aboard his boat, telling Jack he wants to go over a troublesome legal matter. Once they are out on the water, Eiji behaves more and more strangely, and Yuri admits that Eiji's first wife, a wealthy woman with unstable emotions, had vanished without explanation.
