Plot summary
Captain Abraham Van Helsing commands the salvage vessel Mother III, which comes upon the derelict transport Demeter in the Carpathian System in the year 3000. He claims the ship and brings his crew across: his assistant Aurora Ash, the navigator Arthur Holmwood, called the Professor, who uses a wheelchair, the deckhand Humvee, the intern Mina Murry, and the cargo specialist 187. A recording from the Demeter's old captain, Varna, tells of a cargo of coffins taken aboard at a Transylvania station, after which his crew acted strangely and he was locked in his cabin. In a cargo bay, 187 opens a coffin hoping to find smuggled drugs and cuts his hand. The blood wakes Count Orlock, also known as Count Dracula.
