Plot summary
In February 1964, a top Soviet KGB officer, Major Yuri Nosenko, makes secret contact with Steve Daley, a young CIA officer. The approach comes three months after President Kennedy's assassination, at the height of the Cold War. Nosenko says he was Lee Harvey Oswald's KGB handler, and he asks Daley to help him defect to the West. He brings details of a KGB link to Kennedy's killer. The CIA begins a hunt for a Soviet mole inside its own ranks, a mole they suspect has penetrated to the heart of the organization, and Nosenko's case is handled within the agency's internal politics.
