Plot summary

Ten years after their grandfather told them Incan stories, Dora and her cousin Diego still explore the Amazon rainforest. Dora carries a Map she believes guides her, and a monkey she rescued, Boots, travels with her. Diego agrees to one last adventure, and in a cave Dora reads a quipu that points to an ancient sundial, until a trap sets the cave alight and the Map is lost. Camila, who Dora admired from television and who now manages Jungle World, is hunting the Emperor's Bracelet, the key to Sol Dorado. Dora unlocks a box with the sundial, and the bracelet fastens itself to her hand.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • The cast and crew shot in real Colombian jungle at Reserva Natural Río Claro, where they had to be careful of hot weather, rain, mosquitoes, snakes and scorpions, and a snake handler was with them throughout the shoot.
  • One scene used a live scorpion, real cockroaches and glued stuffed bugs including centipedes and beetles, and after filming a container of the bugs was refilled and taken back.
  • Gabriel Iglesias, who voices Dora's pet monkey Boots, said he got the part only through a direct phone call offer, revealed in May 2025 with three other cast members.
  • Director Alberto Belli said his first cuts of the film sometimes felt like a different film, a "horror Dora film", and that he toned it back for all audiences.
  • Samantha Lorraine won the title role after filmmakers held auditions in multiple countries for about two months; she is counted as the sixth Dora of the franchise.
  • The CGI characters Boots, Mango and Swiper were created after studying real monkey, macaw and fox behavior, and on set they were stood in for by tennis balls, green-dressed people and a stuffed monkey.
  • A tram chase had Mariana Garzón Toro faking a drive through the parks with hundreds of extras behind, and two trams were remodified and made adjustable after inspiration from a Chinese van for filming at Hacienda Nápoles and Parque Mundo Aventura.
  • The film draws on real Inca culture: Atahualpa, the last Incan emperor, is depicted as having left a magical bracelet, and Dora and Diego can speak Quechua and interpret quipus.
