Plot summary

Iris leaves her sleeping husband at home and drives to a California state park. At the base of a tree she keeps a memorial for her son Mateo, who died on a family hiking trip, and she has brought his toy boat. At the edge of a cliff she thinks about ending her life. A man named Richard interrupts her, tells her not to jump, and describes his own tragic past. She changes her mind and follows him to the parked cars. There he uses a stun device on her, ties her hands and feet with plastic zip ties, and puts her in the back of his car. She wakes and frees her hands, and the car crashes. She gets away into the forest, where the paralytic drug he gave her begins to shut her body down.
