Plot summary
John Waters, a Baltimore filmmaker and a pioneer of midnight movies, is the subject. The documentary covers his life and work and the making of Pink Flamingos, the 1972 feature he wrote and directed that stars Divine. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, where it won the Filmmakers Trophy for Best Documentary. Afterward it was re-cut, removing roughly eight minutes of footage whose usage rights had not been cleared, and the new version screened at the Senator Theatre in Baltimore. On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes it holds an 80 percent approval rating based on five reviews.
