Plot summary
Restored archival film and audio from the early 1950s show how Disneyland was built in Anaheim, California. The record begins with the initial groundbreaking and follows the laborers, artists and engineers who shaped the park's themed environments by hand and with heavy machinery. Period cameras also capture the design stage and the preparations for running the park. Drawn from hundreds of hours of 16 mm footage held in the company's archives, some of it never previously released, the material was digitally restored for exhibition. No narrator and no contemporary interviews guide the account; the footage itself supplies the chronological structure. Across the months of construction it documents incomplete infrastructure, logistical challenges and problems solved on the spot.
