Plot summary
In Toronto, Edith Welland is an aspiring actress whose career does not come together. She ended a relationship so that acting would have her full attention. The ex-boyfriend she left, himself an aspiring actor, then took up acting on a whim and at once booked a leading role. Edith cannot work out what she is doing wrong, and she begins to do everything wrong. What she wants is to land a film role, and she will do whatever it takes to get it. She lies outright to people, she sabotages other actresses, and she shows her former boyfriend no respect.
