Plot summary
Mal, the daughter of Maleficent, now lives in Auradon as King Ben's girlfriend and hides her discomfort with royal manners behind her mother's spell book, using it to turn her hair blonde. Her friends Evie, Carlos and Jay have settled happily into their new lives, and Carlos wants to invite Jane to the Cotillion dance, so Mal gives him a sweet that makes whoever eats it tell the truth. His dog Dude swallows it and starts speaking. When Ben learns she still depends on magic, they quarrel, and Mal slips back to the Isle of the Lost, the island her former rival Uma, Ursula's daughter, now rules as queen, with Harry and Gil beside her. Ben, Evie, Jay and Carlos follow her there.
