Plot summary
A portrait of Demi Lovato at work on her sixth studio album, Tell Me You Love Me, and of the years that led her there. She began as a child performer and later became a teenager on Disney Channel before growing into a singer, songwriter and actor. Music producers appear and comment, and her mother and sisters discuss her talent from an early age and her biological father, described as abusive and as suffering from alcoholism and substance abuse. She also returns to her first stay in treatment in 2010, where she was treated for an eating disorder and emotional difficulties, and to the bipolar disorder and addiction she lives with.
