Plot summary
The family gathers for Christmas at the house in Sulmona, Abruzzo, that belongs to Trieste and Saverio, who have invited their four children, the spouses of three of them and two grandchildren. The day passes with food and games of bingo. Trieste, now that she and her husband are getting old, asks the children to settle among themselves which of them will take the couple into their home; she and Saverio also intend to leave the family house to that child. The children like the idea of seeing more of their parents, but none of them wants the responsibility of taking the old couple in.
