Plot summary
Adam Ellis's boss Bryce asks him to create authentic original content. When Adam fires back at internet trolls, an account called Dear David replies and calls him mean, but Adam ignores it. Soon he has sleep paralysis: his rocking chair moves by itself and he sees a boy named David sitting in it. His colleague Evelyn tells him to rest, but Adam instead researches the Dear David story and begins posting about his experiences on Twitter. The thread gains a large following, so Bryce asks him to add multimedia. Adam adds an interactive poll asking readers how he should respond if the boy returns, and they pick an exorcism. Trolls keep attacking, and Adam asks David what he wants. That night a typewriter hits his face, and he wakes with a nosebleed.
