Plot summary
David Stuart is a painter. His model Tanya Czoraki, jealous, swaps his eyewash for acid, and he loses his sight. He is engaged to Heather Hayden, whose father, known as Dad Hayden, offers his corneas to David for a sight-restoring operation after his own death. Dad Hayden dies sooner than expected, and the police treat David as a suspect. David considers his blindness a burden to Heather, so he calls off the engagement, saying he no longer loves her. Tanya Czoraki, secretly in love with him, offers to look after him and sees his blindness as a chance to keep him.
